The Band
Sophie and the Sailors are a young indie band based in Hamburg where its members met while studying at British an Irish Modern Music Institute.
The band consists of Sophie Seemann on vocals and piano, Simon Grahl on guitar, Yannis Wulf on Bass and Andreas Mann on drums.
Before forming a group in 2022, singer songwriter Sophie had released a handful of singles and a EP under the name of Sophie Sailor. She first gained recognition in 2018 when she won the regional final of the contest “School Jam” in Hamburg.
The release of the band’s debut single “Monsters” has recently brought about the opportunity to play support for the Germany-wide popular group Jeden Tag Silvester at Musik und Kongresshalle in Lübeck.
Sophie and the Sailors are currently working on recordings for their next releases.
Their arrangements are built around the acoustic sound of the piano, highly influenced by the likes of Elton John and Tom Odell. Referring to the more rock-inspired elements, they have been compared to The Cure, while their harmonic choices clearly reveal the band’s shared love for The Beatles.
